What’s up Grease Monkeys?

I’m Jason from St.Louis, I recently acquired a 1954 Mercury  Sun Valley project, I’m in my mid 30’s and I eat, think, breath, and live hot rods. It’s actually an obsession with me. I am a Automotive machinist by trade and I have very little bodywork experience. If anyone wants to trade some time for machining labor drop me a line or check out the shop at Bessel Motorsports.

My goal is to build a  rat rod / hot rod, so seeing as I’m more or less new to all this, this blog will be the place to learn along with me. So check back often to see where we are on the build!

Throw me a line at jason@besselmotorsports.com, I’d love to hear from ya and hear your thoughts or comments. Also if your looking for parts let me know.
Thanks to all of my friends and family for their support and help with the build and a HUGE thanks to my Dad for his additional skills and forever knowledge on this project.

Hey Jason , I just saw your comment on the Sun Valley glass top. I have my car at the painter and he suggested that I replace the glass top that I have. Mine has some cracking in it. Where can I get one? Real or unreal? Craig

Just saw my 54 Sun Valley! It is Glenoaks Green over Yosemite Yellow. The interior is medium Metalic Green over Ivory. It came out great. I bought a new glass top from the manufacturer in Dallas. The chrome and stainless look fantastic. I have a new tuck and roll interior ivory and green. This ride will be on the road in two or three weeks! Very exciting!

I search for some of my models online and try to get permission from each one and some are just friends of mine from the car culture! Are you interested in being a “pin up of the month”?

I see a lot of comments on the plexiglass tops for Ford and Mercurys. I am restoring a “54 Sun Valley and my top was crinkily looking. I found out that they are reproduced by Pollard Plastics in Dallas Texas. They had two in stock when I placed my order. Be sure to try it on the car as soon as you get it so that you will not have any problems.
