Mustang II Suspension – Lakeshore Fab


It has been a while since I have posted anything. I have over five hundred pictures of the transformation of this car. When I started this project in 2009, I planned to build a little rat rod. Well, that has changed drastically. I will update this site on where we are now with the car, starting with placing a Mustang II suspension kit onto the frame. No one makes a kit for a 1954 Merc, so this had to be a custom order. The cylinder heads


I have the cylinder heads done now. I went with a set of 292 heads off of a 57 Y- Block. I also went with a 57 4-Barrel manifold. Since the 256 has such low compression I decided to mill a little of the cylinder heads to raise the compression. I ended up installing new guides and exhaust seat’s  through out. I cut the cylinder heads .025″ and had to cut the Intake side to make sure the Intake would bolt up properly.
