Hunnert Car Pileup 2010 in Decatur, IL!


As you know, we had a lot of problems with the Hunnert Car Pileup last year. The problems were a long time coming and we’re lucky they didn’t happen sooner and no one was seriously hurt. These events forced us to think long and hard about what the Pileup is, where it’s going, and where its future path should lead. Its Been A While


Since the last time I checked in here, we have been swamped. We have started re-wiring the car and installed the new heater / AC setup from Southern Air. We installed a new electric windshield wiper motor from Newport Engineering. Shaved the doors and the trunk and installed new solenoids. We added new gauges and established a Captain Morgan bottle as our washer fluid bottle. One of the most significant projects was designing and building the bracket for the AC compressor. Upper & Lower Ball Joints


The 1954 Mercury Sun Valley included Mercury’s first ball-joint front suspension, only four grease fittings, and more insulation than ever. 55 Years later it time for me to replace these bad-boys! Remember my car is an original 50,000 mile car and has been sitting for over 30 years………..anyhow I had a hell of time finding some upper and lower ball joints. The ones I did find these guys wanted me to give up my first born!
