2010 Hunnert Car Pileup

Saturday, October 9th, 2010 The Hunnert Car Pileup is a car show for hot rodders who build their cars, and drive them. The Pileup is about hanging out, meeting new friends, and seeing old ones. It is about checking out the craftsmanship in others’ cars, and showing off your own. It is about great music, art, and finding that rare part. It is a nod to a bygone era that lives in each of us. It is about the drive there, the drive home, and the story that goes in between. 2010 will mark our 9th Pileup, but our 1st show … Continue reading 2010 Hunnert Car Pileup

Its Been A While

Since the last time I checked in here, we have been swamped. We have started re-wiring the car and installed the new heater / AC setup from Southern Air. We installed a new electric windshield wiper motor from Newport Engineering. Shaved the doors and the trunk and installed new solenoids. We added new gauges and established a Captain Morgan bottle as our washer fluid bottle. One of the most significant projects was designing and building the bracket for the AC compressor. We also added the AC / Heat switches to the dash panel. Below are a few pics. Continue reading Its Been A While

Frenching The License Plate

Today was a good morning we start around 9:30 and worked on getting the car ready to fire. First thing we did was finish wiring the car up, next we removed all of the spark plugs and turned the motor over to get the oil pressure up.  Once that was finished up we started getting the plug wires on and the # 1 cylinder up. Noticed we need some new points ( Idiots at the part stores! Are there no real parts people anymore?)  I had to go around the corner and look up my parts in the catalog, because … Continue reading Frenching The License Plate

Upper & Lower Ball Joints

The 1954 Mercury Sun Valley included Mercury’s first ball-joint front suspension, only four grease fittings, and more insulation than ever. 55 Years later it time for me to replace these bad-boys! Remember my car is an original 50,000 mile car and has been sitting for over 30 years………..anyhow I had a hell of time finding some upper and lower ball joints. The ones I did find these guys wanted me to give up my first born! A friend of mine who works for Federal-Mogul has mass knowledge and the ability to pull some old part numbers found these for me today.  … Continue reading Upper & Lower Ball Joints
